Water Museum

We are here to answer any question you may have.

Inaugurated on 14 October 1992, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Cluj Water and Sewage Works in 1892, the “Leonida Truță” Water Museum is located in a special natural setting, on the site of the first pumping station in the area of the Florești underground spring.

The aim of the museum is to preserve the technical heritage, honour the tradition of water and respect the tradition of the public institutional water supply service in Cluj-Napoca, educate the public and in particular children on the protection of water sources and the environment in general. The museum was founded through the care and dedication of Leonida Truță, who was its curator until the end of his life. As a tribute to his special contribution, after his death, the Water Museum was renamed “Leonida Truță” Water Museum.

The Water Museum has become the “headquarters” of the Children’s Educational Programme on Water and Environmental Protection since 2003.

The museum is organised in two sections: the outdoor and the indoor section and contains exhibits, documents, photographs, etc. from the work of water operators from the country and abroad under the motto “Water is life!”.

Throughout its existence, the Water Museum has always been enriched by the addition of exhibits of historical importance to water companies around the world. Visiting the museum is free of charge, with a prior request (at least 24 hours in advance) sent by e-mail to cassa@casomes.ro .

"We thus pay a model homage to the memory of the many and unknown who for 100 years have watched with sorrow day and night so that every home of this city may reach that life-giving drop - WATER.
But this sitting is also meant to remind you, passer-by, that from one day to the next, water is getting less and less and we are getting more and more.
Therefore, take great care with every drop of dew and remember that there are always water-thirsty creatures on the endless expanses of the earth.
If you do, our efforts will be fully rewarded."
