In 2003, Someș Water Company, as part of its social responsibility policy, initiated a pilot educational programme for children, which has now become a permanent activity on the protection of water sources and the environment.
What is the Children's Education Programme?
It is an initiative of Someș Water Company to contribute to the environmental education of future generations by highlighting the importance of water and the environmental problems that can affect its quality. We set out to achieve this objective from the perspective of an institution directly involved in the conservation and protection of water sources.
Why have we turned our attention to children?
Each child is like a book that, as it fills its pages, shapes its personality. At the same time, children also have the “power” to educate by spreading the information they receive and by the power of example.
The main objective of this project is to stimulate children’s interest and love for nature and to encourage them to take a pro-active attitude towards its protection in general and the protection of drinking water resources in particular.
- The specific objectives of the project are:
- children's knowledge of pollution sources;
- children's knowledge of the importance of water in their lives;
- children's knowledge of the role of Someș Water Company in obtaining the drinking water we consume;
- stimulating interest in nature and ecology;
- stimulating oral communication and correct expression;
- stimulating imagination and creativity;
- working as a team seeks to foster collaboration and socialisation among children;
- training the civic and environmental behaviour of the company's future customers.
- knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and in particular SDG 6

Someș Water Company is committed to making an essential contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals set out in the United Nations 2030 Agenda in the area it serves.

SDG 4 – “Quality education” – we run a quality applied education programme for the protection of water sources and the environment in general, as a prerequisite for the future sustainable development of the communities we serve.

SDG 6 – “Clean water and sanitation” – through our very object of activity, but also through all the investments we have been making for many years to modernise and extend the water supply and sewerage system, we want all users to benefit from excellent quality water and the most modern sewerage and purification systems.

SDG 11 – “Sustainable Cities and Communities” – we make investments that ensure the sustainable development of all the communities we serve, create jobs and socio-economic development opportunities.

SDG 12 – “Responsible consumption and production” – we run programmes to reduce water losses, energy efficiency, digitalisation and automation that reduce consumption.

SDG 13 – “Climate action” – we adopt the latest technologies to ensure environmental protection, adapt to climate change and continuously develop green, renewable energy programmes, reducing our carbon footprint and emissions.

SDG 14 – “Aquatic Life” – through investment and a focus on adopting new technologies, we protect both raw water catchments and the effluents into which we discharge treated wastewater.

SDG 15 – “Earth Life” – all our investments are directed towards the protection of the environment, wildlife and flora in the geographical area served as well as the protection of public health.

SDG 17 – “Partnerships to achieve the goals” – in our efforts we partner with all those who can contribute to achieving our goals.
